ANGEL BABY

Years ago, when very young, I had a baby boy,

Premature was he, and oh, so small,

Resembled a darling toy.

I was alone, so very alone,

And fell in puppy-love,

From this, came my lovely angel boy,

Seemed he was given from heaven above.

He was so small, so very small.

The doctor said the angel might not live.

So I gave him up for adoption,

Knowing soon he would be God's to give.

I thought he had gone on to Heaven,

To be by my Jesus' side,

And one day I would see him,

When I left this earth behind.

Eight years ago, I got a call

From this wonderful angel man,

No longer a little angel boy,

He had lived by God's own Hand.

He wanted to come to meet me,

I was a little frightened of it all.

What would he think of his mother,

Would he think I didn't care at all?

We met in my beautiful western state,

Far from where he now lived.

And when we met, oh such love arose,

So much love did we have to give.

He understood the circumstance of his birth,

He told me he had died twelve times,

But each time the doctors brought him back,

To live out his full life-time.

He and his beautiful family

Stayed near me for over a year,

And God gave back to me my angel boy,

And removed from me all fear,

That he would not understand why I gave

Him to another woman to raise,

For he understood perfectly,

And will love me all of my days.

How wonderful is my Father in Heaven,

He gave back to me my angel boy,

He knows the love in a mother's heart,

For the baby, the darling angel boy.

He has moved back from whence he came,

For his wife's family and friends are there.

There shall always be such love among us,

That distance cannot dim the tide,

Of the love I have for my angel boy,

And the love I have for his bride.
