CLOSE MY EYES
I close my eyes and picture Him,
He is hanging on that Tree.
His agony is 'most too much to bear,
For one to look upon, to see.
His blood flowed in tear shaped drops,
From that ragged, jagged Tree,
It flowed in streams as His life He gave,
Right there, for you and me.
He made seven statements from the Cross,
The one imprinted on my mind most of all.
"Forgive them, Father, they know not what they do."
He saved us from the fall.
He died on cruel Cross where I should
be,
He died for my sins, not His.
He was sinless Man, truly a sinless Man,
Yet, He came to do just as He did.
He arose from a borrowed tomb, the third
day,
Spending three days and nights in Hell.
He took your place and mine, you see,
Battling the devil and his hoards,
He did it oh, so very well.
He taught on earth for some forty days
Before the Father called Him home.
He was seen by five hundred at one time,
And as few as three, or one alone.
He is awaiting the time for the Father
to say,
What second He may come for His Bride.
My Jesus, We too, are awaiting that second,
When we may always be by Your side.
HE IS RISEN, MY FRIENDS, HE IS RISEN.
