DADDY

Daddy left this world today,
He did not leave it alone.
Angels came to carry him
To his beautiful heavenly home.

Daddy was a kind, yet stern man,
The father of fourteen of us.
Two left for heaven early.
And the twelve of us are left.

Daddy loved us all so dearly,
But hardly had time to speak.
He worked the farm as best he could,
Worked thirty years at the glass plant,
Daily, every single week.

Mama worked with Daddy for years and years,
But he seemed to go down-hill.
We kids tried to cheer him up,
Yet, he seemed to lose his will.

He developed Alzheimer's in later years,
For which there is no cure.
Mama cared for him as best she could,
It was so hard for him to endure.

It was good that Daddy left us today.
You want to know why I say this so soon?
He is now in the presence of our Holy Lord,
And Praising Him night and noon.

This poem is dedicated to Gloria Jones and her lovely family:
