FATHER, FORGIVE THEM
He lived here on Earth, but men knew Him not.
He offered them life, but His life they sought.
They mocked Him, then nailed Him to die on a tree,
There He gave up His life, for you and for me,
But they heard Him exclaim e'er His life was through,
"Father, forgive them, they know not what they do"
Sometimes when I wonder how much I can bear,
When my load seems too heavy, and life isn't fair,
I think of my Savior and I hear once again,
As my Lord cried out in His anguish and pain,
Those words that He spoke e'er His life was through.
"Father, forgive them, they know not what they do".
Christ won the victory on Calvary that day,
For a whole world of sins were all washed away!
Come to the Cross and listen with me,
To the words that He spoke, there on Calvary's tree,
My Jesus is saying for me and for you,
"Father, forgive them, they know not what they do".
He is still offering us life, will you turn away?
God's mercy was great then and still is today!
Come to Him now friend, Salvation is free!
God's Son paid the price on Calvary's tree!
I can hear Him cry out, and He's pleading for you!
"Father forgive them, they know not what they do".
