Gloomy Days of Fall
Leaves come down and fall where they may,
a small breeze blows and it's a cloudy day.
A rain might come before the noon day sun.
It's turned cold, the fall and the rain have begun!
It is cold and dark, and damp and dank,
dark, dingy, cloudy day and I can't think.
Lightly drizzle, rain permeated to the bone,
I took the long way along the path to get home.
Rain all day, drizzly cold and shiver not fit for a duck,
this rainy, cold, damp, day soaked, sodden, just my luck.
I miss the sun and the warmth from its friendly rays,
Those bright waves that shine and help make my days.
It won't be long and the leaves will have gone,
the winter days have started and I'm all alone.
My beard is as white as the newly fallen snow,
I'm getting old and the Good Lord says it's time to go.
