RED LACE

While daydreaming, I closed my eyes,
And, behold, I saw a gently beating heart
Of bright red lace.
It startled me, I opened my eyes,
Then closed them again,
There it was, softly beating a melody, it seemed.

I did not understand what it meant,
Until I thought and prayed.
It is a heart with so much love,
The love is, shall I say, flowing away?
Streaming softly through the openings of the lovely lace,
Being given to all that will receive.

Yet, the love is never depleted, always full,
The more that is given, the more the heart receives,
For that is how love goes, and grows.
The more love the heart gives to others,
The more the same heart receives in kind,
It is as the Lord says, "Give, and it shall
Be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together,
and running over."
It is the very same with love.

Let it flow through the lovely red lace of your heart,
Let it flow as a river of loving kindness and compassion.
Let it flow as if it shall never end,
Let it flow over the stones of hate and unkindness.
Let it flow over bigotry and shame.
Let it flow from your lovely red lace heart,
Let it flow over all whom you meet,
For we shall all stand at the Savior's Feet.
Love shall never end, for He is Love,
And He is eternal.
