SOUTHERN LADIES

Southern ladies with fans of soft lace,

Sit on their verandas and speak

In their velvety Southern drawl,

Of life, and of their mystique.

They talk of the past and future, at times,

They speak of their families with love.

Southern ladies tell gently of hard times,

With words as the down of a dove.

Southern ladies with fans of soft lace,

Drink a mint julep with friends.

They are so sweet, and beautiful of face,

But are "Steel Magnolias" in the end.

Southern ladies with fans of soft lace,

Bespeak of the times gone by.

They are gentle of manner, forever kind,

And give love as soft as a sigh.
